Autococker Paintball GunsBuying Autococker Paintball GunsAn autococker paintball gun is one with a closed bolt – that is, it’s a paintball gun that’s ready to fire when the front of the bolt is secured in the chamber, and that will self-cock by allowing another ball to fall into the chamber, then close in firing position again. Open-bolt guns, in contrast, hold the bolt in the open position, closing only when the trigger is pulled. The biggest advantage of an autococker paintball gun is that, due to its closed bolt, it has little or no kick to it, enabling you to consistently aim quickly and well. Semiautomatics are usually open bolt because they are quicker to fire.
In an autococker paintball gun, because the bolt isn’t closing in a hurry, your paintball also is more secure – it’s less likely to be chopped by the bolt, which means it’s less likely to blow up inside the barrel of your gun and result in a messy and annoying cleanup problem. Maintaining Autococker BodiesAn autococker paintball gun is the M-16 of the paintball world. It’s very reliable, very upgradeable, works well and consistently right out of the box, and is very good about not chopping your paintballs. And because it’s so easy to use and maintain, it’s a perfect gun for beginners. If you keep your gun clean and oiled and don’t mess around with it much, an autococker paintball gun will last for a long time with minor regular maintenance and timing adjustments with a professional at a paintball shop. It is, however, a paintball gun you should expect to upgrade – and it’s very easy to do so. There are other advantages to autococker paintball guns. They are generally very flexible about fuel, allowing use of either HPA or CO 2 as propellant. Autococker paintball guns also tend to be well-balanced because the body structure results in a gun that has weight to it, but isn’t too heavy, and because some internal structure keeps the center of gravity over the trigger frame, where it needs to be. Autococker Paintball Gun DisadvantagesBecause the timing can go awry fairly easily, it would be better if the owner of the autococker paintball gun was familiar with how to adjust its timing. If you can’t, you’ll probably have to pay a bundle to have it done at a paintball shop. And most autococker paintball guns not only are easy to upgrade, but actually need them done in order to perform up to par. Suggested upgrades include the barrel and, unless it’s a metal hinge type, the trigger. Related Paintball ProductsFeatured Products: Spyder
