Paintball ClothingFinding Good Paintball ClothingWhen your white shirt turns a nasty shade of gray because you forgot and washed it with your paintball jeans, it’s time to think about getting some real paintball clothing. You can find paintball clothing in a variety of styles, colors, and fabrics, for indoor and outdoor paintball. Not only will you save your other clothes, you’ll be able to find neat paintball clothing that will help you wipe the field with your opponents.
Paintball Pants: The Must-HaveThe first thing to buy is a good pair of paintball pants. Look for something loose, without loops or pockets that can snag on undergrowth and branches. Pockets with sturdy Velcro and snaps are great, and provide additional storage outside your paintball harness. Sturdy, doublestitched, water-repellant fabrics that are light enough to keep you cool are idea. If you’re the sniper for your team, your essential paintball clothing should take that into consideration. Choose pants and other clothing that fit closer to the body, made of very sturdy material to help you snake through the underbrush. For crawling, choose a paintball jacket with thumb-tuck loops; this eases the stress on your forearms. Look for slimline pockets for carrying small accessories. Accessorize: Paintball Harnesses and Other StuffPaintball harnesses are your next must-have. What’s paintball if you run out of ammo? The most important consideration when purchasing a paintball harness is to find one that holds your ammunition securely, yet is convenient when reloading. Multiple harnesses are a good idea, if you don’t mind the extra weight and bulk. Ghillie suits are nifty for hiding out from your enemy, though you want to take them off before hitting the 7-Eleven! Good ghillie suits use single-strand thread for the shag, not loops, and the shag should be short enough to brush out if necessary. You can find ghillie suits, just like cammos, in colors for all weather and terrain. Or you can just buy camouflage jackets or ponchos, if you’re not into the stealth thing. Other Considerations for Paintball ClothingYour paintball clothing overall should be cool and light enough for summer wear, and loose enough that you can put them on over warm clothing for winter outdoor paintball. Above all, use common sense when choosing it. Paintball clothing should be easy to wash, easy to take off, easy to put on over other clothes, and above all comfortable. Color in your paintball clothing is important, too. Black can be cool-looking, but it gets hot under the sun, and it’s not as hard to spot as you’d think. Camouflage gear is good, but don’t go for the digital patterns even though the US military is; plain camouflage is designed to hide from humans and deer. If you’re shaky on color, take a picture of the area where you normally play outdoor paintball, and match the forest colors to camouflage at the paintball store. Good, practical paintball clothing can be a real asset to your game, as well as nice to have in order to spare your other clothes. Keep your strengths in mind, and maximize on them with your choices. Think of paintball clothing as a tool, a way that you can get the edge in your next game and all the ones after.
