Paintball Masks

Paintball Masks: Your Most Vital Equipment

Ask people what the most important piece of paintball equipment is and they’re likely to say, duh, it’s the gun. Some may say the paintball. But only a few will tell you that it’s paintball masks. On the field, everyone must wear a paintball mask, though not everyone needs a gun or any other form of equipment; and the most vital part of the paintball mask is your paintball goggles.

The bestselling and best rated paintball mask at MarkerHQ:

Because paintball to the eye can cause one to become blind, paintball masks are designed to protect your vision. And because the rest of the face can be badly damaged in paintball, your paintball mask will also be ideal for protecting your head.

Make sure it fits comfortably, especially if you are going to wear eyeglasses too. Be sure that you get a mask that allows you to see clearly even from the corner of your eye.

Paintball Goggles: Keeping Them Clean

For the most part, you can just hose off your paintball mask and goggles after your game. Water-soluble paintball paint should sluice right off. In the event that it does not, you can clean your paintball goggles with a soft cloth – not a paper towel, they can scratch – and either glasses cleaner or plain old Windex.

If you want to keep your paintball goggles from steaming up while you’re wearing them, stop sweating. No, just kidding. Get out the no-fog spray or get a mask with a termal lens so it doesn't fog up when you're breathing like Vader. Since the goggles are going to be right against your eyes, make sure you let them dry overnight before wearing them, and give them a final polish to remove any last residue.

Besides anchoring the paintball goggles, your paintball masks should be able to cover your entire face. You should have either attached to your paintball masks or separate, ear guards and a throat protector. In addition, if you’re a guy you should wear an athletic cup; paintball to the groin really sucks.

Paintball Supplies

Though you can get paintball supplies designed for cleaning paintball masks, you probably shouldn’t waste your money. Windex does fine, and if you spray off and then air-dry your mask every time you use it, it should last you very well.

You can, however, get replacement lenses for your paintball goggles. This is the most likely part of a paintball masks to need replacing, and it’s also the most vital part of paintball masks. To determine whether your paintball goggle lenses need replacing, examine them closely after and before each paintball session. Hairline or larger cracks, loose seating in the mask or goggles frame, or the goggles themselves not fitting well on your face, all make it likely that you need to replace either the paintball goggles lenses or purchase new paintball goggles. By installing your own replacement lenses on your paintball masks, you can save yourself lots of money in the long run.
