Tippmann paintball guns are known for their rugged durability and high quality, and the A-5 is no exception. It uses a pneumatic paintball feed, not a mechanical one, and the cyclone feed turns the A-5 into semiautomatic weapons, feeding in up to 12 balls per second, sometimes more. It’s also easier to field-strip in emergency situations, allowing you a quick way to clean up after a chopped paintball and move on into the rest of your game. The A-5 also includes open sight aiming and a closed bolt system for better accuracy overall. You’ll love the way A-5 Tippmann paintball guns resemble real semiautomatic machine guns; they’re really intimidating! Its all-black finish ensures that the sun will not reflect off of it, helping you hide for as long as possible.

The key attraction of a Tippmann A-5 is the Cyclone feed system, an integral part of this gun that can improve your speed immensely. It uses an air driven sprocket in the feeder housing to shove each paintball in turn into the firing chamber. The faster you shoot the A-5, the faster it feeds new paintballs in. Testers found that with the combination of the Cyclone feed and the blowback air pressure of the gun, it was almost impossible to chop the paintball.

The Cyclone feed is, however, a little too large. It comes with its own hopper for paintballs, and you can just feed balls in through the top when you need more ammunition. You’ll probably need a new barrel for your A-5, but it’s very compatible with a number of existing barrel types. At long range, though it’s fast, A-5 Tippmann paintball guns are not very accurate compared to other paintball guns, and that’s probably due to the barrel. This is not a sniping weapon, but rather a close-in fighting weapon.

Another Tippmann paintball gun is the Model 98, a midrange to low range paintball gun. The Model 98 is similar to the A-5, but presents problems with field stripping.

Overall, Tippmann paintball guns perform well, with a few minor glitches. You can use these guns with ease, field strip them quickly, and with a couple of minor upgrades shoot pretty accurately at short to medium range distances.
